windeln.de expands product range by selling large furniture
• Expansion of the children's furniture category by listing well-known furniture brands
• Online furniture purchase even more convenient through delivery to the desired room
• More efficient processes for windeln.de through interface with suppliers
Munich, November 15, 2017 – windeln.de, one of the leading online retailers of baby and toddler products in Europe and for customers in China, has successfully launched the sale of large furniture. From now on, customers can purchase large furniture such as cots and cabinets from windeln.de individually or in whole sets. Through the partnership with the logistics service provider Hermes Einrichtungsservice, the furniture in Germany and Austria is conveniently delivered to the "desired room". The so-called "dropshipping" ensures an efficient, service-oriented and cost-effective logistics chain by delivering the goods from the manufacturer directly to the customer.
Expansion of product range by listing large furniture
The expansion of the category is driven by the well-known furniture brands of Schardt and Pinolino. Other manufacturers are about to be switched on. "With the expansion of the product range, we are supplementing the range for our customers – according to the motto Everything for my baby," says Jürgen Vedie, Chief Operating Officer, Member of the Board of Management and responsible for Category Management at windeln.de, among other things.
Delivery to the desired room through partnership with logistics service provider
windeln.de now supplies forwarding items with the Hermes Furnishing Service (HES). The 2-man teams of the logistics service provider carry the delivery on request to the baby room. In addition, customers receive an exact delivery time window, which is increasingly specified on the day of delivery in order to make delivery easier to plan for customers. At the start of the expanded product range in the field of furniture, customers will receive premium delivery as a free standard delivery route.
"We have a delivery process that focuses on the positive shopping experience. With this service, we offer our customers considerable added value and clearly differentiate ourselves from the competition," says Jürgen Vedie.
Efficient process handling for ordering from the manufacturer
With "dropshipping", all articles are only ordered from the manufacturer when a specific customer order has been placed. The goods are then delivered by the manufacturer directly to the customer. Thus, despite the expansion of the product range, the stock does not increase and transport routes become more efficient. In the future, suppliers will be connected to this type of order via a technical interface in order to be able to exchange the required order data efficiently.
